Every electronic genre has a moment when a producer discovers percussion from somewhere they didn't expect — a sound from a culture they'd never heard of that changes what they thought a groove could feel like.
That kind of discovery is hard to chase deliberately. It takes years of digging, or access to musicians who've spent their lives with instruments most production tools will never replicate.
We built Future Percussive around that discovery. We worked with session percussionists from Indonesia, Japan, and North Africa — recording rare instruments played the way they were meant to be played. Kendang, Reyong, Pemade from Indonesia. Otsozumi, Shimidaiko, Taiko from Japan. Frame drums and hand percussion from North Africa. Instruments with centuries of cultural weight behind them, recorded and turned into production-ready loops.
Alongside the organic recordings, we built a full set of synthetic percussive loops — sounds designed to sit next to those rare instruments and push the groove somewhere new.
